Daniel Lassiter Williams Jr. (Danny), former CEO of Richmond Corrugated Inc, died peacefully at 88, after a five-month battle with lung cancer.
Danny was born in Richmond, VA on November 5, 1937. He attended Ginter Park and St. Christopher’s Schools and enrolled early at the University of Virginia. He graduated in 1959 with a BA in Psychology.
After graduating from UVA, Danny embarked on a career in the paper and packaging industry. He worked in containerboard sales for Albemarle Paper Company, Forest Board Sales and Great Northern Paper Company before founding his own business Richmond Corrugated Box in 1971. He built the sheet plant from scratch with seed capital he raised by downsizing his home and selling his wife’s car. Through hard work and determination, the business gradually started generating consistent profits by the mid 1970’s. At its height, Richmond Corrugated Inc employed over 100 people. In 2017 the company was purchased by Hood Container.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Georga, their three children, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his sister Peggy.
