Flexible packaging producer Sacchital is adding a new flexographic printing facility in Pregnana, Italy. Sacchital is adding the 2,200 square-meter site with a BOBST VISION CI press, operating alongside its existing rotogravure and digital printing.
The site has been developed by Sacchital’s management team with support from Emilio Alliegro, Sales Manager of flexible packaging at Bobst Italia.
“This new site is designed to accommodate four flexo machines and related technologies and is at the centre of Sacchital’s growth plans,” said Sacchital Group Executive Board Member Alberto Palaveri. “It represents an ambitious flexo enhancement program aimed at serving an increasingly differentiated and fragmented market more effectively and at a lower cost.”
The VISION CI is configured to handle both short and long production runs and includes automated functions aimed at reducing setup times, improving repeatability and limiting waste.
The press is fitted with BOBST’s smartGPS (Graphic Positioning System), which is intended to cut setup times and reduce material and ink waste during job changes.
The press can operate with both solvent-based and water-based inks through separate washing circuits.
Sacchital is also working with BOBST specialists to refine production workflows and plans to introduce seven-color extended color gamut (ECG) printing.
Sacchital Group specializes in paper-based flexible packaging and has been active in the sector for more than eight decades.
The group reports annual revenue of $164.4 million, with around half generated from exports to markets including Europe, the United States and North Africa.
It employs 400 staff across five production sites, with the Sacchital operation in Pregnana Milanese described as the original and core plant.
Total group output capacity is 600 million square metres, produced across facilities covering 350,000 square meters.
