Georgia-Pacific and International Paper are considering price increases for containerboard, set to take effect January, according to financial press reports. Georgia-Pacific has suggested prices increases of $60 per ton for kraftliner and white top and additionally a $90 per ton increase for recycled liner and $90 per ton for medium in the eastern states. In western states, the company reports increases of $80 per ton for kraftliner, $90 per ton for recycled and white top liner and $90 per ton for medium. IP is pushing for $70 per ton increase for liner (including white top), and $90 per ton for medium.
Packaging Corporation of America announced price increases of $70 per ton for linerboard and $90 per ton for medium on January 1. Smurfit Westrock announced a $60 per ton increase for unbleached kraft and recycled linerboard and an $80 per ton increase for corrugating medium as well as a $70 per ton increase for white top linerboard in its west region and $50 per ton in the east.
