Kitchener, Ontario based PaperWorks Industries Inc., formerly Boehmer Box, announced the celebration of its 150th Anniversary from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on June 22 at 120 Trillium Drive. This milestone event will honor the company’s rich history and impact on the Kitchener-Waterloo region.
“We’re proud to be an important part of the legacy of the Kitchener-Waterloo region,” said Jeff Sinko, General Manager of the Kitchener operation. “This milestone celebration is a testament to our commitment to our community and our employees, many of whom have been with us for decades.”
Founded by brothers Charles and August Boehmer in 1874, the company originally began as a box manufacturer to meet the packaging needs of the Shantz Button Company. The business first operated out of factory locations on Duke Street before relocating to Belmont Boulevard West. In 2002, the company relocated to the Huron Business Park, with locations on Trillium Drive and Battler Road, marking a new era of growth and modernization.
In 2015, PaperWorks Industries acquired Boehmer Box from CanAmPac. Since the acquisition, PaperWorks has invested over $11 million in equipment upgrades to enhance carton design and production, solidifying its position as a leader in the packaging industry.
The anniversary celebration will feature activities, a food truck, games, and live entertainment. It is designed to bring together current and retired employees and their families. This event commemorates the company’s past and bright and innovative future.
