Grand Rapids, Michigan based Opus Packaging Group has announced that it has acquired Kalamazoo, Michigan based Mall City Containers, effective September 1, 2021.
Mall City Containers was founded in 1974 by a team of investors that bought Mead Paper Company’s sheet plant in Kalamazoo. Over its history, the company has enjoyed steady, solid growth that excelled in meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations. Mall City employs more than 60 people while operating out of one manufacturing facility and an offsite warehouse.
The addition of Mall City is the sixth manufacturing facility for Opus, which is comprised of Opus Packaging – New Bremen (New Bremen, OH; Loudon, TN), Opus Packaging – Grand Rapids (Grand Rapids, MI), Opus Packaging – Jackson (Jackson, MI), Opus Packaging – Indianapolis (Indianapolis, IN), Opus Packaging – Wabash (Mt Carmel, IL) and now Opus Packaging – Kalamazoo, LLC d/b/a Mall City Containers (Kalamazoo, MI).
