Former Domtar President and CEO John Williams is transitioning from non-executive chair of the firm’s management board to a new role as senior advisor to the owner’s office.
The position, supporting owner Jackson Wijaya, is intended to allow Williams more time to focus on his health. He served as president and CEO from 2009 to 2023, then became non-executive chair of the Paper Excellence Group, i.e. when legacy companies Paper Excellence, Resolute Forest Products and Domtar began integrating with each other, a process in which he played a key role.
Williams was also instrumental in transforming Domtar from a paper manufacturing business to a significant forest products company. His change in role is effective immediately.
