The Fibre Box Association (FBA) Safety and Health Committee announced the 2024 Innovation in Safety Achievement Award, a prestigious addition to the annual Perfect Plant and FBA/AICC Safety Excellence Awards. This award celebrates groundbreaking contributions to workplace safety by recognizing plants or companies implementing innovative solutions that have significantly advanced employee safety and well-being. Nominations are due by March 7.
The Innovation in Safety Achievement Award inspires ongoing creativity and progress for safer working environments across the corrugated manufacturing industry by spotlighting inventive approaches to address workplace hazards and improve safety outcomes.
To qualify for the Innovation in Safety Achievement Award, nominees must demonstrate the development or enhancement of a safety innovation that effectively mitigates hazardous risks or behaviors in the workplace. The innovation may be a device, process, technique, software, or other creative solution that drives meaningful improvements in workplace safety.
Examples of qualifying innovations include technologies or processes that correct unsafe behaviors; solutions that reduce repetitive tasks, minimizing ergonomic risks; and tools or systems that provide real-time data to enable proactive safety decisions
Execution Requirements:
The innovation must be actively implemented within the workplace.
It should deliver measurable improvements, such as reducing accidents, injuries, or near misses and increasing employee engagement and safety awareness.
Clear, tangible results must demonstrate the innovation’s effectiveness.
Individuals or groups can nominate plants, teams, or companies that have introduced impactful safety innovations. Each nomination must include a detailed one-page description of the innovation, including its implementation and safety impact as well as supporting materials such as photos and videos showcasing the innovation in action.
A panel of safety experts from the FBA Safety & Health Committee will review nominations. Submissions will be anonymized to ensure unbiased evaluations. The panel will assess the uniqueness of the innovation, its successful execution and integration into the workplace, and the demonstrated improvement in workplace safety metrics. Award recipients will be honored annually with a certificate of achievement, an opportunity to present their innovation in an industry-wide webinar, and public recognition.
