The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released the November 2024 Packaging Papers Monthly report. Total packaging papers and specialty packaging shipments in November increased 9 percent compared to November 2023. They were up 11 percent when compared to the same 11 months of 2023.
The operating rate for bleached packaging papers was 75.9 percent, up 4.8 points from November 2023 and up 6.7 points year-to-date.
Shipments of the biggest subgrade in unbleached packaging papers – bag & sack – were 97,200 short tons for the month of November, up 2.6 percent from the same month last year and up 16.6 percent year-to-date.
