Hatboro, Pennsylvania based Acme Corrugated Box announced a recent visit by Alex Warren, Safety Committee Chairperson from Tavo Packaging, focused on sharing and learning best practices in workplace safety. Acme said the partnership exemplifies how its commitment to safety not only benefits its team but also extends outward, strengthening industry relationships and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
“Spending the day with Tom at Acme and learning how Acme approaches safety was really eye-opening and informative. I am able to bring so much of what I learned back to Tavo. Acme’s safety program is top-notch, and I’m hoping we can someday get Tavo’s safety program to the same level,” Alex said.
The idea originated with John Marchant, a Packaging Consultant with Acme, who suggested that Alex and the safety team at Tavo connect with Tom Wertman, Acme’s Safety Manager, to gain insights as Tavo worked to establish their own safety protocols.
As Tavo’s operations grow, they’re focused on creating a robust safety committee and enhancing their safety standards. Rather than a formal consultation, this was a friendly exchange of best practices — a benchmarking opportunity that underscored the mutual respect between teams.
The discussions ranged from Acme’s rigorous safety audits to hands-on safety strategies to ensure every team member remains vigilant and protected. Tom shared valuable advice on building a safety-first culture, and Tavo’s team was inspired to bring these ideas back to their team.
The collaboration wasn’t just a one-time exchange but a meaningful way to strengthen ties between the companies. As Tom noted, these interactions don’t happen without recognizing opportunities to make a positive impact. Acme said it is proud to be a resource and ally to Tavo Packaging as they enhance their safety program.
