Privately-owned Cheshire Anilox Technology has been acquired by The Daetwyler Group for an undisclosed sum.
Cheshire is a manufacturer of laser-engraved ceramic anilox rolls crucial for transferring a controlled amount of ink, or adhesive/lacquer, in flexographic printing.
Established in 1992, the company employs 30 staff and serves a customer base in more than 100 countries worldwide.
By joining the Daetwyler Group, it said it becomes part of a globally respected organisation with deep roots and extensive know how in the printing industry.
The third generation family-owned Daetwyler Group is continuing to extend its product portfolio.
The core of the investment is the anilox rollers, which ideally complement the existing product portfolio
Currently, Cheshire’s main markets are England and the EU.
In order to serve the largest market for anilox rollers locally in the future, Cheshire’s know-how will be used to gradually set up production for anilox rollers in the United States, where Cheshire Anilox already has a number of customers and Daetwyler has a major office in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Cheshire Anilox’s founder and managing director, Paul Smith, will stay on with the business in a consultancy role, providing support for the U.S. expansion.
